Since the majority of my work is spent shooting weddings and engagements, I don’t get the opportunity to shoot newborns very often. But when I do, I absolutely love them! The sweetness of a brand new baby is completely unmatched, and watching the parents (and sometimes siblings) completely in love with this new little life is something that will NEVER get old! I hope that one day I will get to shoot newborn sessions for the babies of all my brides and grooms. 🙂
This session, in particular, was very special for me because it was for my NEPHEW…James Leo aka “Leo.” My brother, Justin, and Sisterinlaw, Jess, have three boys now (Jake, Jaxon, + James Leo). And all three of them hold such a place in the depth of my heart. Being an aunt over the last eight years has been such fun and so very sweet…and it’s made me even more excited to become a mama this year myself!
Leo entered this world pretty early, so I can’t say our family wasn’t all praying very hard for him to be a healthy and strong newborn. And that he was! He had to spend a couple of weeks in the NICU but he was such a trooper and got to come home and meet his big brothers sooner than expected. And thinking about watching those two become big brothers to him has me tearing up as I write this. I have always been emotional but these pregnancy hormones definitely have me even weepier. So before I get too wordy and really start crying, let’s just get right to the utter SWEETNESS that is Leo and his big brothers. Side note–you’ll find a few extras of Jaxon in here too. He wanted to have some fun with Aunt Chels’s camera while mommy was getting Leo ready for his big debut. 🙂
