This session is the perfect example of how portrait sessions don’t have to be overly fancy, planned, or posed. When Allie and I were planning this motherhood session for her and her three boys, we decided to keep it really simple and capture as much realness and personality as possible.
It’s pretty obvious that she and her family love the beach, and that having three small boys means lots of energy! So instead of dressing everyone up and forcing too much, we decided to go with a summer night vibe for her session.
I love that Allie featured a design from her own small business (the gorgeous hat pictured in these images) and dressed the boys in casual, comfy attire. It was still so adorable, and they all went together perfectly as if they came straight out of a Zara ad!
I brought along one of our longboards to have a little more fun and add to the beachy, adventurous feel. We took time to capture Allie’s sweet bond with each one of her boys, and then simply let them play together in the sand and the shore break. You’d probably never even know that we were dealing with quite a bit of wind and a good amount of people on the beach (hello, official beach season at Wrightsville!).
We were able to capture this session in around 30 minutes or less and I could not get home to my computer to edit these fast enough! Especially as a boy mama myself, I will never get over the pure sweetness of these images.
I love helping my clients to capture and remember the true essence of their little ones during this season. From their curls to their expressions to their endless energy and goofiness. This session inspired me so much and I can’t wait to do more like this in the future!
