This engagement session was very special for so many reasons. Gina and Dillon are sweet friends of mine, so Gina and I had been dreaming of the day we would one day be taking her own engagement photos! Little did we know that Dillon was planning a surprise proposal this fall (which included surprising Gina with her brother coming from NJ to celebrate with them). I shrieked as soon as I saw the Instagram post (and her stunning ring) because I was so, so happy for them!!
These two have been together for over TWELVE YEARS. Yep, they have quite literally grown up together. I get choked up about all kinds of love, but for some reason middle school + high school sweethearts just really get me. I mean I think about how many “seasons” of life you go through in all those years. And the fact that they were there for each other, and kept loving each other, through all of that is just really rare and special. So yeah, I get the chills big time when I look at these images. I’ve taken many engagement sessions at Fort Fisher, but there was something different about this particular night. The light was golden and it just felt so intimate and real. Gina’s deep red dress and ridiculously beautiful hair definitely added to the warm, winter vibes too. I could flip through these forever and ever!
