I was SO honored that these two high school sweethearts asked me to shoot their engagement photos in the mountains. Shelbee and Justin live in Florida but were vacationing with their family after Christmas in Black Mountain. They had reached out to me even knowing that I wasn’t local to the area and would need to travel there, which was so flattering to me! It worked out so nicely because Jordan and I were already doing a ton of traveling for the holidays. We spent the first half of our trip in Raleigh, and the second half in Charlotte. So luckily Asheville is only a couple hour drive from the Charlotte area which shaved off a good portion of our trip had we had to come all the way from Wilmington instead.
Jordan and I got to use it as an excuse for a little weekend getaway just the two of us (and our pup Wrigley of course). We explored some breweries (I had water, Jordan had beer) and some delicious Asheville restaurants. It was the perfect way to end our holiday travels!
We met Shelbee and Justin at their rental home which had the most INCREDIBLE views of Black Mountain. Thank goodness we took Jordan’s truck with the four-wheel drive though because getting up there was STEEP, phew. It was the absolute perfect location for a shoot because not only were the views epic, but we were so secluded and had the entire place to ourselves. We got lucky with the weather, too. It’s definitely not normal to be 60 degrees in the mountains in December…but we were not complaining one bit!
I absolutely loved spending the afternoon with these cuties and capturing their sweet love. I say this all the time but there’s something about high school sweethearts that just warms my heart so much. I am so happy for these two and cannot wait to view all the beautiful photos from their Florida wedding in December 2020! Thanks so much for having me, Shelbee + Justin. Y’all are just the best!!
