There’s something extra meaningful about getting to photograph families you love — and this session with one of my close friends felt like sunshine and chaos in the very best way. We met up at Wrightsville Beach, just outside of Wilmington, NC, for a laid-back evening session filled with laughter, sand, and two wild toddler boys.
Like many parents, my friend was a little nervous about how her boys (ages 2 and 4) would “behave” during their session. I get it — toddlers are unpredictable, and the beach is basically one giant sensory adventure. But I always say this: you don’t need perfect behavior to have perfect photos — just presence, love, and a willingness to roll with it.
And wow, did these boys deliver. They ran, they jumped, they splashed. They ate a little sand and got absolutely covered in it. They reminded me, once again, that the most meaningful family photos aren’t stiff or forced — they’re full of movement, real moments, and connection.
