Sydney & Brian’s Epic Engagement Session

At the beginning of this year, I wrote down a list of goals and things I wanted to accomplish over the next year or two. “Host my own workshop” was among one of them, thinking that maybe it would happen sometime in 2020 or after. I didn’t think I was “good enough” to do it just yet. But then I realized, even the best of the best can ALWAYS improve and grow, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have something to offer right here, right now, right? I mean, I was able to build what I have over the last two years and I know for a fact that I have grown SO much since I first started out on this journey. The mistakes I’ve made, the lessons I’ve learned, the experiences I’ve had can be valuable to anybody — whether they are just starting out like I was a few years ago, or have established businesses. So…I went for it. I hosted my first workshop in April with an overwhelming response for another offering this summer. And here we are…about to offer another workshop on July 13!

I cried after this day was over because of how amazing it was to get to pour into this group of women and watch them GO AFTER their biggest dreams. The whole day was just so overwhelming for me because I could visibly see light bulbs going off and goals & dreams being achieved right then and there. Not to mention, we got to experience this most GORGEOUS engagement session ever!

We spent the afternoon at my home going over everything from finding your “why” to how to find the best lighting and deliver the best client experience. After the “classroom” portion of the workshop, we headed to Wrightsville Beach for the hands-on experience part of the day! Sydney & Brian were our models for the day– but the best part is that this was their actual engagement session! These two are getting married in November and they were just the absolute sweetest and most loving engaged couple. Seriously, they could not keep their hands off of each other the whole night, and I could not have asked for a better experience for the workshop participants to be able to capture!

The whole day was rainy until we got down to the beach. The skies cleared and we had the most incredible, glowing sunset. When we moved over to the water to take photos down there, we even got a front row seat to a dolphin in the water just a few FEET away from us!! The whole night was just MAGICAL.

But perhaps the absolute coolest part was seeing my workshop girls witness and experience what it’s like to capture an engagement session. It’s not just about the pretty images that you see later on Instagram. When you get to see the love happening right in front of your lens, it’s truly an unforgettable and invaluable experience. It takes my breath away every time, and I will never get over it!

Sydney & Brian, you two are something special and I know your wedding (and your marriage) will be just as magical as y’all are.
