This was the very first session I shot since the beginning of the COVID outbreak this spring. I had gone about seven weeks without a single shoot, since I was not legally allowed to operate as a “non-essential business.” But eventually, I got permission from the state to begin portrait sessions again safely, and I was counting down the days. So to say I was EXCITED to get to Isabel + Lloyd’s engagement session would be a huge understatement! Our original plans had to change since Fort Fisher was still closed, but looking back I am actually glad that happened! If you’ve seen my work, you know how much I adore Fort Fisher for engagement session locations. However, even though every session is different just as are all of my amazing couples, it’s easy to gravitate toward the same spots and the same routine each time I shoot there. So the opportunity to switch things up and try something new ended up being a ton of fun!
Isabel’s dad lives in Southport, so we were able to take his golf cart down to a secret little beach area and had the whole thing to ourselves! It felt like a fun little adventure getting there and we had the absolute best time together.
Isabel and Lloyd actually grew up in the same small town, but really only “knew of” each other until adulthood. I love stories like this because eventually, their paths crossed again at the exact right time, and now they will be getting married! I am so looking forward to their November wedding in Whiteville and I’m so excited to be a part of it. These two are so very special and if this session is going to be any indication of their wedding day, it’s bound to be a DREAM! 🙂
